Anointing of the Sick

Anointing of the Sick page header

The Catholic Church offers the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick to those who are experiencing the physical, mental or spiritual illness, as well as preparing for major surgery, or other health condition.  Even if there is no physical healing, the primary effect of the Sacrament is a spiritual healing by which the sick person receives the Holy Spirit’s gift of peace and courage to deal with the difficulties that accompany their illness.  This sacrament provides spiritual strength and healing through an encounter with Christ, who understands our suffering. This sacrament is administered by the priest in hospitals, medical facilities, private homes, or at our two parishes.  It is not necessary to wait until the point of near death to receive this sacrament.

Offered by request, please contact the church office at 715-246-4652.  The HIPAA Privacy Act prevents hospitals from informing the church that you are a patient in the hospital.
